UK YOUTH ROCKETRY CHALLENGE
UKROC (the UK Youth Rocketry Challenge) is a national competition that introduces secondary school pupils to hands-on rocketry, engineering design, and real-world problem solving. Working in small teams, pupils design, build, and flight-test their own model rockets to meet a specific engineering brief, learning core ideas in aerodynamics, propulsion, and systems integration along the way. For Launch4Change, UKROC acts as the foundation of our outreach work: university rocketry teams mentor local schools through the full design and build cycle, provide technical guidance, support pupils at their regional launch events, and cover all financial cost. This structure not only helps inspire the next generation of engineers and scientists, but also creates a meaningful bridge between schools and universities through practical STEM engagement.
